The black bamboo collection (Phyllostachys nigra)
A magnificent collection of bamboos can be found in the delightful setting known as The Gardener’s
shed. Notable among them are a wood of black bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra) that covers an area of over 1,000 m² and the towering common bamboos
(Bambusa vulgaris), both of which are some 150 years old. Other species included in the
collections are
Sasa,
Pseudosasa,
Hibanobambusa,
Shibatea,
Arundinaria and
Pleioblastus.
